Griffith University’s Gold Coast Campus is centrally located in Southport, just north of Surfers Paradise. Close to the beach and sea it offers a relaxed and inspiring environment.

The campus offers great transport links, accessible by car, bus and train. The closest airport is located at Coolangatta which is a 40 minute drive south of the campus.

Getting There

G:Link Light Rail Tram

The G:Link Tram system has 2 tram stops at Gold Coast campus, one near University Drive and the other near Engineering Drive. The G:Link Tram links the campus with the Gold Coast city’s CBD retail area and restaurant hubs, stopping at all stations through to Pacific Fair, Broadbeach. Bus connections run from tram stops through to the western suburbs.


There are a number of bus routes to the Gold Coast campus. Current routes and timetables are available from the TransLink web site or by calling TransLink on 131230.


The closest train station to the Gold Coast campus is Helensvale. This station is situated north-west of the campus and is approximately 15 minutes by car and 20 minutes by bus. Trains to Brisbane and Varsity Lakes, which is south-east of the campus, can be boarded at this station.

Bus connections run between Varsity Lakes station, Helensvale station and the University.

If you are using a taxi to come to the Gold Coast campus you will need to tell the driver to take you to Griffith University Gold Coast campus, off Parklands Drive, Southport.

When calling a taxi to exit the campus, check the taxi bay located outside the Link Building, on University Drive.


The Gold Coast campus is a 15 minute drive from the Gold Coast’s CBD, 15 minutes drive to the nearest heavy railway station and approximately 1 hour drive to Brisbane.
